Keyless Entry: What Is It & How Does It Work?
Many businesses have made the jump from traditional lock and keys to keyless entry systems. With all the technological updates to lock and key security, it’s not hard to see why. With keyless entry, businesses don’t have to give out or keep track of as many keys while at the same time establishing stricter access control to their properties. In this post, we’ll talk about the three main kinds of keyless entry.
Keypad Locks
Keypad locks allow you to use your own individual keypad code in order to enter your building. With just the press of a few buttons, all of your employees can get in easily and quickly without a key. One of the advantages of these locks is that they allow you to assign a temporary code for someone requiring access to your building, and then delete it afterward. However, if your business has a high employee turnover rate and you need to reject access to many old employees, then another time of keyless lock may be a better option for your business.
Fob Access
Key fobs are simple to use and offer many advantages. Fobs can be given to each employee and are scanned at the door of any selected entry point both inside and outside a building. The scanner acknowledges the fob and determines whether or not it gives an employee clearance to that area and unlocks the door. The advantage of this system is that it allows you to restrict access to certain areas of your commercial space to certain individuals. For example, while all employees may gain access to the front door of your building, you may have a laboratory or some other kind of room or facility that needs tighter access control.
Video-Enabled Intercom Systems
Intercom systems are a great way to vet individuals before they enter your building. Many such systems are video-enabled so that you can not only speak to the individual but watch them as well. These systems are great for business owners who would like to have video footage of their property that they can review at their convenience.
